I have been a fan of the Mechwarrior and Battletech franchises most of my life and was disappointed when the franchise fell out of the limelight. Recently however, there has been a resurgence of the franchise with a new game Mechwarrior Online. The makers of Mechwarrior Online also have re-imagined many of the classic mechs and I have been very impressed with them. The Catapult was always my favorite design and the new version is as iconic as ever.
The makers of Mechwarrior online went to the trouble of making orthographic drawings of the mechs which meant I had very accurate side front and back profiles all done to scale. This made the build much easier, but it was still complicated because the design had so many small plates and angles. I really put a great deal of attention into the cockpit of the model and while it may be hard to tell from the photos, the entire cockpit is only the size of my upper thumb. The paint job was a pretty standard weathered palette but I incorporate custom water slide decals that I made in Photoshop. I used these for the faction logos and some of the details in the cockpit as the details were too small for a brush. This model really tested every skill I have learned and pushed me to perfect them further.
