Eostre the Hare
Bio: When we think of Easter most think of decorative eggs and the Easter bunny, but the real Myth is something far more powerful. Eostre the Hare is the name given to the primary servant of Ostara and protector of the natural realm. Eostre act as a physical force in the natural world carrying out Ostara’s will. Once a human, she sacrificed her heart seed to the will of nature and gave up her human name. In return, she was bestowed with Ostara’s power. Eostre continued service requires her to enact Ostara’s will and punish those who would violate nature. From those punished she consumes their heart seed and can use their purified essence to grow her strength and extend her life. However, if she were to betray nature or go again Ostara’s will, her heart seed would also be consumed.
Powers: Can call upon the full force of nature to fight for her, enhanced strength and durability, agelessness.
Weapons:
Staff of Eostre: A magical earthen staff with the heart seed from Eostre’s human form. This is what allows her to call upon the forces of nature and only by destroying the heart at its core can Eostre die. Though doing so is far easier said then done, given the great power the staff contains.
Helm of the Hare: Made from the skull of the first hare to walk upon the Earth, it was favored greatly by Ostara and when it finally passed from this Earth Ostara decided it would be in its image that she would make her Earthen protector. With this helm the servant of Ostara is first transformed in Eostre the Hare.
Sickle of the Goddess: A weapon that serves as a reminder that life and death are always in balance and the harvest must come for new life to begin. It’s blade never dulls and only someone who Ostara finds worthy can carry it. It was with this sickle that Eostre removed her human heart seed and offered it in service to Ostara.
Basket of Ostara: The basket contains a deadly vine that will reach out and pull the heart seed from those who would threaten the natural world. Within the basket the darkened heart seeds are purified prolonging Eostre life and increasing her power. If they were to run out, her human heart located within her staff would become vulnerable to destruction.
Weakness: Since Eostre strength comes from nature she is weakened in places like large cities where much of nature has been removed. Also, since her strength and continued life are dependent on her continuing to enact Ostara’s will, she is sometimes limited on when and where she can help others of her own volition. She must always weight the cost to herself when acting on her own because when the purified heart seeds she has collected run out, she will become vulnerable to death.
