El Mariachi Fantasma

Bio: Once a struggling Mariachi, he came upon an oddity in a music store he was browsing. It was an Aztec ehecachichtli (Death Whistle) made from a small Eagle's Skull. Normally, such an odd thing would not have caught his eye, but he felt compelled towards it. He bought the item and later that night he could hear it calling to him again. He blew into the whistle and was forever changed. The whistle brought forth the Aztec deity Tezcatlipoca, who offered the Mariachi great success for many years, but upon his death he would serve him in the pursuit of Vengeance. The Mariachi agreed, and as promised, he had great success and even fell in love. His pact had all but become a dream to him. But it all came to an abrupt end one night when a criminal robbed him and his wife. The mariachi fought back and they were both killed. As he lay on the ground his life bleeding out, he felt the call of Tezcatlipoca once more. To his surprise, he found the whistle in his hand and blew into it once more. Life, unnatural, flowed through him healing his wounds. Once again Tezcatlipoca stood before him to remind him of their deal, he would serve him for the rest of his unnatural life as a warrior seeking out the evil and unjust. Tormented by the loss of his wife, the Mariachi carried on. Though a mortal in appearance, when Tezcatlipoca called, he was El Mariachi Fantasma.

Powers: Long life with supernatural healing and strength. Everything he touches while in service to Tezcatlipoca transforms into an unearthly weapon of destruction.

Weapons:

  • Ehecachichtli de Tezcatlipoca: The death whistle where it all began, it is bound to him and when it calls, he must blow into it once more to fulfill his pact.

  • La Guitarra Macuahuitl: His guitar transformed into a bladed Aztec club with black obsidian blades that leaves wounds that do not heal in the way they should. It is said that you can hear his guitar playing as he comes, beckoning your death.

  • Lasso of Xiuhcoatl: Though it appears a simple lasso, in his hands it is the fiery dragon of Xiuhcoatl that burn in proportion to the victims sins.

  • Quauholōlli Maraca: A Maraca turned War club, that can not break and whose sound can drive the bravest man to fear.

Weakness: He does not fully control the call of Tezcatlipoca, but he can trust that when in the presence of evil it will be El Mariachi Fantasma that stands in his place, not him. When in mortal form he cannot die but does not possess the powers of Tezcatlipoca. He also knows that at any time his pact may be ended and his life with it, though for him this is a peace he desperately seeks.
