The Uktena is a great serpent with horns and a glowing crystal embedded in its head. The Uktena is the enemy of the Thunderers, a race of spirits who control thunder and lightning, but is also the enemy of us all and it is said that simply looking at it can put you in a trance causing you to walk to your death. The glowing crystal on it head is called the Ulunsuti and was said to bring great power to anyone who could remove it. Killing the Uktena was not small feeat; however, as you could only kill it by shooting an arrow or weapon directly into the seventh scale. Only one person, Aganunitsi, ever achieved this feat.
